You start from the Centre of Slunj, through which passes Jozefina, and ascend passing by the Old Town towards the village of Popovac. Through the high land, you will get close to the neighbouring country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ascent will take you to the ruins of the Old Town in Podcetin, with a beautiful view of Cetina and the neighbouring country. Cetingrad has played an important role in Croatian history; it was the site where the first Croatian Sabor (parliament) session was held. The town will welcome you with its renovated architecture and hospitality. The greenery of the forests and the fields will follow you on the way back to Slunj. At the place called Ponor, one kilometre away from the track, there is an unusual cave by the river. On the right side, just before the centre of Slunj, you should go down to see the village of Rastoke. The unusual architecture ofthe houses, whose foundations are made of limestone, will not leave you indifferent; and the streets are variegated with numerous waterfalls of the Slunjčica River, famous for being clean and drinkable. |
